Antemoro paper originated in the 15th century on the southeast coast of Madagascar. Inheriting techniques brought by oriental navigators, the Antemoro people developed a unique expertise by crafting handmade paper from the bark of the Avoha, an indigenous mulberry tree.
At the time, this paper was mainly used to record sacred texts, astrological manuscripts, and genealogies. Today, it has become a symbol of Malagasy craftsmanship, and we continue to preserve this ancestral tradition using the original production method, where nature, history, and culture come together.
